5 Things Every Cat Owner Understands

5 Things Every Cat Owner Understands

Our feline friends have idiosyncrasies that we all know and love (most of the time). They get into the weirdest of places, make some pretty silly faces, and always find a way to knock something important off of the counter, but there are some things that you can really only understand if you have a kitty in your home full time.

Here are our top 5 things that every cat owner understands:

1. Fur. Everywhere.

You brush them every day. You vacuum. You dust. Don’t even get me started on the shedding between Winter and Summer! It. Just. Never. Goes. Away.

If your cat has light-colored fur, you’re constantly lint rolling your black shirts. If your cat has dark-colored fur, you’re constantly lint rolling your white shirts. If your cat has multi-colored fur, you probably gave up a long time ago.

2. Your cat eats better than you do.

At some point in a cat’s life, their vet will recommend the expensive food. Whether it’s wet food to keep them hydrated, weight management food to keep them healthy, or specialized food to help with a specific problem, the time will come that you feel like your cat is eating 5 star meals while you’re eating Rice-a-roni for the second time this week.

If you’re going to feed your cat the good stuff, we recommend Ollie’s custom nutrition plans that give you the peace of mind that your cat is getting everything they need from their diet.

3. Personal space? Never heard of it.

Whether you’re in the bathroom, on the couch, or trying to get a good night’s rest, you can rest assured that your kitty is right there, too. Cat owners are no stranger to a butt in their face or the feeling of their furry friend brushing up against their leg. It’s a closeness that’s unlike anything else!

4. The one-two-switcheroo.

Cats are temperamental creatures. Their moods shift faster than they can jump from the couch to the coffee table. Every cat parent has experienced the sudden shift from, “Please pet me,” to, “I will now tear your hand to shreds.”

5. Peace and quiet…until 3am.

Our feline friends love to sleep all hours of the day, but once that special hour comes along, it’s time to ZOOM. They’re playing with their toys (for once), they’re jumping across the furniture, but, most importantly, they’re keeping you awake. Your only choice, unfortunately, is to wait it out until they’re ready to drift back to sleep.

To know cats is to love them, but it also means dealing with some unusual problems. Did we leave any of your common cat occurrences off this list?
